Hands-free voice journal

A hands-free voice journal for walks.

One tap starts a recording. Put the phone away and keep walking. Yuho holds the voice with the photos and the route. Offline-first, yours by default.

Hands-free means one tap, then walk

A hands-free voice journal is for the walks where you do not want to stare at a keyboard. Open Yuho, tap once, and talk. The phone can sit in a pocket. AirPods or the built-in microphone carry the voice.

Yuho keeps recording with the screen locked. A Live Activity sits on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island so you can see that the entry is still going. A call pauses the recording and picks it back up in the same entry when the call ends. If AirPods disconnect, Yuho switches to the iPhone microphone and keeps going.

What stays with a hands-free walk

The long recording

There is no hard length limit. Talk for the whole route if that is what the thought needs.

The route and photos

The path you walked and the pictures from that time sit with the audio, so a place can hand the thought back later.

Interruptions that do not start a new file

Calls pause and resume in the same recording. Audio is saved as it records, so a crash or dead battery recovers what you had so far.

No prompts in the way

One tap, then nothing. No streaks, no mood check-ins, no suggestion cards mid-walk.

AirPods, phone mic, or another Bluetooth mic

Many people walk with AirPods in. That works. Others prefer the phone microphone and leave the ears free — that habit is on walking without headphones. Mic choices and tips live on the microphones help page.

The wider walking practice is on walking voice journal. Commutes are on commute voice journal. For a diary framed around privacy and ownership of the entries, see private voice diary for iPhone.

Hands-free does not mean multitasking through a crowded pavement with your eyes closed. It means the journal does not ask you to stop and type. You can still look where you are going. The phone stays out of your hands after the first tap.

If you already drop voice notes into Voice Memos, that remains useful for short clips. Yuho is for the longer walk you meant to keep as a diary entry, with place and photos attached. A fair comparison is on Yuho vs Voice Memos.

Where Yuho fits

Yuho is an iPhone voice diary for thinking out loud on walks. It is made by C (Chenxi), who lives in Stratford in east London by the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and walks the canal to Victoria Park. He has about 130 hours of walk recordings.

Offline-first, yours by default. Core features free; optional AI transcription and recaps via credits or Pro. Hands-free is the same product: one tap, then the walk.
